2019 Evaluations

Hello Everyone,

Ball hockey evaluation day will be on March 2nd and 3rd. Saturday, March 2nd will involve the player skills drills and divisional games. Sunday will be the goalie evaluations and special Mountain / Pacific Placement games. These games were requested by coaches last year to properly place the kids in the appropriate conference. This will determine what is the proper fit for your child; the Mountain or the Pacific Conference. These games will be by invitation and for Minor, Major and Junior divisions only.

On Saturday, we ask that you try and bring your child to the division times so they can run through the skills part of the evaluations. The game part of evaluations is set up to specific times. This is so we have the same age players playing against each other. We request everyone do their best to run through the skills drills. The more information we have, the more we can balance the teams.  Just go to the volunteers at the check-in table and they will guide your child through the whole process. The skills will take about 5 minutes to run through and the games will be 20 minutes. Of course, wait time will depend on how many children are in the queue. Everyone should expect to be there for approximately one hour.  Goalies are asked to come to Saturday Game Times for age groups, so you have an opportunity to play in the games and be evaluated.

On Sunday, March 3rd goalies are asked to arrive as close to scheduled times, as possible. And once the registration is closed, we will be able to assess which players will be asked to participate in the Mountain / Pacific Placement Games. These players will consist of new players and those players that are on the borderline between the Mountain Conference and the Pacific Conference. These are for players in the Minor, Major and Junior Divisions.

We understand the timing is not ideal, we are limited by the amount of dry floor space in Richmond. There are many factors in determining the skills of all the players. If your child is unable to make assessments, we understand. However, all players are strongly recommended to attend both skills and games. Only those players who have pre-contacted RSDMBHA Board will be excused and still included in our draft. Any player not attending evaluations or games without approval will still be a part of the draft at the discretion of the board.  As mentioned before, the more information we have, the better we can balance the teams.

All the evaluations require a lot of volunteers.  The more help we receive, the smoother the whole process will be.  We also will write letters for volunteer hours for schools. Thanks and have a great ball hockey season.
